Summer Reciprocals 7/6/25

I get asked about summer reciprocals, and what does it mean. We have 2 important times of year here in South West Florida, “Season” and “Summer”. Season is somewhat between Columbus day in October through Mother’s Day in May. During that time, in this area of Florida, the population booms and there are A LOT of People here! Traffic is just crazy.
The “Summer” is late May through early October. A very large portion of the residents here are retired. They spend “Season” (winter) in SWFL and they spend their “Summer” elsewhere, traveling, visiting family up north, or staying in their 2nd residence until fall, making them “snowbirds”.
Where we live, here in SWFL, there are so many private Golf Clubs, Country Clubs, Yacht Clubs, private gated communities, etc. These places are extremely busy when most all of their members (snowbirds) have come back to SWFL to stay for “Season”. During the “Summer” months, the summer reciprocal system allows members, that live here year round, to enjoy privileges at various other affiliated, and participating clubs such as golf, tennis, social events, and dining, etc. Also, giving opportunities to meet new people and make new friends.
Most of you that live in SWFL know all about the Summer Reciprocal program, and look forward to it each year, as do we. For those that are asked, I hope this helps.
We send out a newsletter once a month during “summer reciprocals” letting you know about our musical performance schedule. If you aren’t already signed up for our Kelly and Shelly newsletter, please do so at the bottom of this page. Your community may participate in summer reciprocals with a local Country Club where we are playing, or you may know someone that lives there!
Come see us play, and if we haven’t met yet, come say hi!!
